When I first started with the company, the marketing of our specialty gas delivery equipment was being managed by a guy named Dave. In those days I knew as much about gas delivery equipment as anyone might who was new to the specialty gas industry, which was little to nothing. Dave on the other hand, while mostly a quiet kind of guy, could talk at length about brass and stainless steel hardware necessary to distribute all manner of gases from cylinder to point of use.

Dave was responsible for compiling something he called The Design and Safety Handbook. It was a spiral-bound publication that contained about 40 pages of technical info pertaining to, you guessed it, the design and safe handling of specialty gases. Dave thought there was a real need for this kind of reference material, and I’m thinking ole Dave was spot on with his thinking. Next to our product catalog, it quickly became the most popular publication with our customers.

As you might expect, our handbook has changed and been improved as we’ve revised and reprinted it over the years. It remains our second most requested publication. Updated with current safety, technical and equipment data, (and now in full color by the way) the 5th edition of our handbook recently rolled off the printing press and is now available.

The Air Liquide Design and Safety Handbook enables specialty gas users to:

  • Improve on-the-job safety to safeguard the health and welfare of  personnel
  • Prosper in a highly competitive global economy
  • Improve end-product quality, performance and reliability
  • Reduce general operating costs
  • Meet ever more stringent environmental regulations

Material contained in our handbook helps users of specialty gases to secure and properly maintain an efficient, safe and reliable system that will consistently deliver pure or mixed specialty gas to your point of use—at the specified purity level, pressure and flowrate.
